TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

This weeks ITV racing heads to Newbury and Warwick as we preview all seven live races.

13:50 NEWBURY

Haiti Couleurs reverts to hurdles and heads the early betting but this seems to be more about maintaining race fitness than busting a gut to win a handicap hurdle, with aspirations of Cheltenham success in mind. Preference would therefore be for Kruger Park who has prior course form and ran well when third at Uttoxeter when last seen, finishing just over a length behind winner Kilbarry Hill. The form has been franked with the fourth having won twice since so the form looks decent and I’m hoping for another solid run today.

14:05 WARWICK

Sadly with just the four runners we're forced to hunt down a winner without having the option of an each-way alternative.

With that in mind it's hard to look away from L'Eau du Sud who's been impressive in his last three victories.

Rubaud would have a claim if he's able to overcome his fall last time out and it wouldn't be the biggest shock if he overturned the favourite but he'd have to be at his very best to do so.

Denman chase looks to have a fair few familiar faces we have seen over the national hunt season years.

Bravemansgame comes here as the favourite dropping down in grade of races, he usually runs in. He does receive weight from a few of his rivals. But I'm just not sure he's a horse you can trust and I believe he is regressing. Just feel there is possibly better value to have.

Hitman usually runs his race but always seems to bump into one to good for him a lot of the time. Djelo i feel has a bit to prove after his second at Windsor where he was a long way behind the winner.

Le Patron for me is the each way play here. He won really impressively at Newbury couple races back. I just feel this track plays to his strengths last time he ran here. Although the Moores haven't been in great form all season there will be a part in the remaining months where they will go on a hot streak.

14:40 WARWICK

Irish raider Gala Marceau is going to be hard to beat here in this mares, listed hurdle contest. She may have finished as the runner-up last time out but that was to stable superstar Lossiemouth. She was way ahead of the rest of the field that day and if she's fit after a 280 day stint on the sidelines looks the one to side with.

The only competitor who could pose a serious threat is former race winner West Balboa however she's not been at her best of late and will need to improve upon her most recent performances.

Sir Gino having to withdraw due to a knock is a real shame for the Newbury Card but opens the race up for others here.

Edwardstone is probably glad not to see Jonbon backside in a race for once. Although he has won this race before. He is another who I feel is has regressed but is dangerous to rule out. Matata won really well last time at Windsor but does seem to struggle to back up a win with another win which puts me off.

Libberty Hunter is the play here for me. He receives weight from his opponents in this race which is an added bonus. He has beaten Matata before who is favourite here currently at the time of writing. Only been seen once this season and won impressively at Cheltenham in December. Ground should suit along with the course. A lot of boxes ticked which goes in his favour

15:15 WARWICK

This veteran's chase looks wide open and it'd come as no shock if any of the runners were to come out on top.

Smarty Wild has a very solid each-way claim after an eye-catching third when last seen.

Le Milos is without a win since 2022 but has been pretty consistent in three starts so far this year. He seems to be returning to a degree of form and can make his long awaited return to the winners enclosure.

15:35 NEWBURY

A fiendishly competitive handicap!! Won last year by Iberico Lord, the Nicky Henderson runner returns to defend his crown although has to shoulder top-weight and Nico De Boinville prefers stablemate Joyeuse who is a half-sister to 2020 Champion Hurdle winner Epatante, has made a solid start to her hurdling career and should go well. Washington is two from two for Harry Derham and Secret Squirrel won really well at Windsor last month so both are considered, however the pin lands on last years’ Scottish Champion Hurdle winner Favour And Fortune to get back on track following a lacklustre reappearance at Ascot in December.
