TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

13:40 ASCOT

Kargese will be all the rage here. A grade 1 winner, open to improvement, surely a tough nut to crack.

Unfortunately with seven runners, each way options are limited.

On official ratings a few of these don’t have too much to find, and Take No Chances will be finishing strongly over this stiff two miles, and Ooh Betty is a likeable tough mare, however Kargese looks arguably too good for these.

KARGESE (WIN)

(Matt Polley)

13:55 HAYDOCK

Royal Infantry will likely to start at cramped odds for this Supreme Novices trial, so it may pay to look elsewhere for the value option. CLOONAINRA (E/W) ran well in the fog in a valuable Leopardstown handicap hurdle last time out and is second best of these on official ratings. The Irish raider gets a handy 8 pounds from the favourite and is likely to give Dan Skelton's charge the most to think about.

CLOONAINRA (E/W)

(Daryl Lay)

14:15 ASCOT

Terresita kept on well for victory in a Listed race at Carlisle in November and followed up with a solid third over course and distance three weeks later. She’s been dropped 1lbs for that effort and a similar run would put her right in the mix here.

Martator is unbeaten in three here at Ascot and should find this easier than the Desert Orchid he contested last time out so rates as the main danger now going back up in trip, although despite Hitman taking a big drop in class he hasn’t won in over two years and rarely finds much off the bridle so looks vulnerable off top-weight.

TERRESITA (E/W)

(Dean Kilbryde)

14:30 HAYDOCK

As usual the Peter Marsh Handicap will be a tough test on heavy going over nearly 3m 2f and there are stamina concerns over the lightly-raced Trelawne, Imagine and Richmond Lake.

Royale Pagaille has carried big weights on bad ground to win this race twice but gives 22lb to Mr Vango, whose recent win is working out well. Preference is just for Royale Pagaille’s class to strike again.

ROYALE PAGAILLE (WIN)

(Alan Morris)

14:50 ASCOT

A few familiar faces here in a open looking handicap race. Forget Goshen unless the ground is a heavy (currently good to soft at time of writing)

Bo Zenith is near the top of the weights and was seen to have great potential but I don't think has quite delivered yet. Doddiethegreat really disappointed last couple of times out at Kempton so there has to be questions with regards to him.

At a near double figure price perhaps a chance each way would be to side with Georgi Girl. Trainers Hobbs & White are having a real good season. but currently there last eleven runners only two have finished outside the top three so yard is clearly in good nick.

Georgi Girl looks a consistent mare who has dropped a little in weights as well which should help given the yards hot form at present perhaps might be the time to strike.

GEORGI GIRL (E/W)

(Luke Tucker)

15:05 HAYDOCK

Trainer Lucinda Russell has her yard in great form and they could be adding to their recent tally with Inox Allen.

The seven-year-old disappointed over the bigger obstacles so a return to hurdling looks a wise move by connections. Finished third in a Grade 2 novice contest when last seen at this venue and a repeat of that performance could be enough to see him make the frame once again.

INOX ALLEN (E/W)

(Rory Paddock)

15:32 ASCOT

The last time a Nicky Henderson star clashed with Willie Mullins’ Energumene, they served up an all-timer titanic clash. Jonbon heads the charge this time around and he should do what the late, great Shishkin did three years ago. He is the heavyweight around now and really should enhance his claim to the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Energumene is a talented individual and if he’s near his best. We will have a cracking contest on our hands.

JONBON (WIN)

(Kieran McHugh)
