Pundit Dean Kilbryde picks his best two bets of the day this Wednesday.
15:45 LUDLOW
Annsam hasn’t won since taking the 2023 renewal of this race but runs off a 5lbs lower mark today and also showed a little more when making late headway over a shorter than ideal trip at Exeter in March so needs considering.
Another worthy of a second glance is Java Point who is two from three over fences at the course and was only been beaten a neck at Sandown three weeks ago so should remain competitive from a 1lbs higher mark.
All that said, ready preference is for Destroytheevidence who beat subsequent Cheltenham festival winner Haiti Couleurs on chase debut in October and has come close in two from three runs since, most recently when only beaten a neck at Warwick when last seen in February. Still relatively unexposed compared to his rivals and with conditions known to suit, he gets the vote.
DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE (WIN)
18:00 SOUTHWELL
Fistral Beach arrives here on a hat-trick having won at Southwell and Newcastle in recent weeks, both with P J McDonald in the saddle, however a further 3lbs rise will make things tougher and it’s interesting that the jockey switches back to Margot Robbie who he has ridden in her last two – a close up second over course and distance on return in February and a victory at Newcastle in early March. There looks to be plenty more to come from the Geoff Oldroyd runner over a seven-furlong trip and as such she rates the one to beat.
