TODAY'S TIPS (TUESDAY)

16:45 LEICESTER

A chance is taken Lord Du Mesnil can roll back the years and provide us a good value each shot in Leicester’s finale. Richard Hobson’s charge was still officially rated 140 on his final start last year in the Ultima Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival and if he recaptures anything like last season’s form which saw him finish fourth on his penultimate start in a competitive Exeter handicap he should be more than good enough to feature here. Chief danger could be the progressive Givega who bolted up by no less than seventeen lengths on his hunter chaser debut and bis to make it three wins from three this season.

LORD DU MESNIL (E/W)

18:30 WOLVERSHAMPTON

The Charlie Hills-trained filly Havana's Joy showed enough on debut to suggest that with any sort of improvement she could get off the mark in a maiden which shouldn’t take too much winning. Market rivals Star Zia and Cemlyn are rated 65 and 68 respectively and there is a good chance Havana Joy could be better than that – she finished only one and a half length behind the 77-rated Middleton View on debut and was a neck in front of the 75-rated Sands of Havana. The selection was keen enough on debut and if she settles better is taken to make amends here.
