FROM THE OFF

Former jockey and now Racing Daily pundit Liam Hall gives his weekend thoughts and analysis on maidens he expects to claim their first success. SATURDAY

16:57 NEWCASTLE

A small field for this bumper. One newcomer which is Daytona Sky, he has a decent enough pedigree to take him seriously especially being sent out by the in form Rebecca Menzies stable. The other four have all ran to a similair level to eachother, He's a Ripper got out paced last time in a deeper contest than this and may show up better here if it isn't a crawl. Hunters Spring would have to improve to defy a penalty. Japetus travelled smoothly but weakened close home, a slow tempo which you often get in a small field may help him finish his race off.

DAYTONA SKY (WIN)

17:07 KEMPTON

A open looking junior bumper with plenty of newcomers. The Henderson team sends out Night Ride Home who has a smart flat pedigree which should put him in good stead around Kempton. Seven Stars belongs to a family stacked with bumper successes and could be bang there if knowing her job with the fillies allowance. The Egyptian Ginge is one who has ran that could find plenty of improvement on the debut performance after staying on when the penny dropped but could find things happening too quickly around Kempton.

NIGHT RIDE HOME (WIN)

SEVEN STARS (E/W)

SUNDAY

13:40 CURRAGH

A 2yr old 5f maiden to get the flat season underway. Stonezilian is a half sister to a listed sprinter so should be capable of showing up. Plenty of sprinters in the family of Leblon Beach so should be sharp but may not have as much ability as Zaltan.. He is by a very smart sprinting sire as a 2 Yr old and the dam was a sprinting listed winner as a 2 Yr old so this colt should be blessed with natural speed

ZALTAN (WIN)

15:10 CURRAGH

Win Me Over brings to the debut table an incredible page being a full sister to the brilliant Palace Pier and comes from the Aiden O Brien/Coolmore team, often the teams horses improve massively for debut. Bint Queen Kindly has a bloodline stacked with success, the trip may stretch her with most the family being sprinters but more than capable of she gets every yard. Wannabee Royal brings the best form to the table to date, dam was a group 3 winner but the RPR achieved for her two races doesn't blow you away and you'd like to think she'd have to improve to win this.

BINT QUEEN KINDLY (E/W)
