Former jockey Liam Hall picks out a few selections over the weekend as he aims to pinpoint maidens who are are set claim their first career success.
SATURDAY
16:10 MUSSELBURGH
Wise Counsellor was runner up on his second start, which was a nice step up from debut, Oisin Murphy takes over. Amalfina was fourth on debut over a mile, steps up in trip to 12 furlongs, which she looked like she was crying out for last time, but the pedigree points to being more of a 10 furlong filly. Ivatt was second on debut over 10 furlongs, but his dam was a winner over 14 furlongs so this step up in trip should suit, and this son of Ghaiyyath should be too good.
IVATT (WIN)
17:24 HUNTINGDON
Chatty Girl was a nice winner on debut before finding listed grade too competitive, she looks likely to be getting involved again now back down in grade but does have a penalty to carry. Pic N Mix has a family stacked with bumper winners and runs for a stable well known for targeting bumpers so a market check is advised. Saint Terry was bought unraced out of Coolmore, she's by the brilliant Galileo out of an oaks runner up. Has had a breathing operation for debut but is bred to be far and above the best in this field if she knows her job but does run for a stable not known for many bumper winners.
