BEST OF THE REST (SATURDAY)

Away from Saturday's ITV action Rory Paddock picks his best bets of the day. 16:00 CURRAGH

A recent run just under three weeks ago should see the Martin Hassett trained Secret Magician return much fitter this time around. An encouraging 9th of 15 on unfavorable heavy ground was a solid enough effort.

Now, back on better ground and at a venue he's won at before, more can be expected.

Fivecromwellplace shouldn't be far away and a return to turf for El Bello can produce a marked improvement.

18:40 THIRSK

As one of only two former course and distance winners in the lineup Bay Breeze has a strong claim of adding to his tally here at Thirsk. A previous winner first time out his seasonal absence won't be as big a negative as some of today's rivals. With wins off marks well into the 80's his current rating of 70 won't be an issue either.

One for any shortlist and looks to have a solid each-way chance.

Musical Touch looks the obvious danger, having been a consistent performer throughout his four starts as a three-year-old and looks set to make the frame once again.

At a larger price, Roundhay Park might be an alternative that punters could readily overlook.

BAY BREEZE (E/W)

19:40 THIRSK

With 20 runners set to go to post for the final race on the card at Thirsk, it's safe to say it's going to be a tough race to call.

However, despite his current sizable odds, Shark Two One cannot be ignored.

His only effort over this course and distance resulted in him picking up third spot, and he returns to this venue with less weight to carry.

Although he'd prefer a little bit of cut in the ground, he won't be perturbed by this good surface; however, if it were to get any quicker, his chances may diminish.

He can overcome the widest draw and sneak into the money.
